HOUSTON NOTES
Offense:
• Davis went 4-for-5 with two multi-run home runs, six RBI and two runs scored. The four hits and six RBI each tied career highs, while the multi-homer performance is the first for Houston since Davis hit two at UConn on May 11, 2018.
• Padgett went 4-for-4 with a double, three RBI and four runs scored. The four hits and four runs scored were career highs.
• Triolo and Lovelace each turned in 2-for-4 efforts with two RBI and two runs scored. Triolo added one double and one walk, while Lovelace’s two RBI and two runs scored were career highs.
• Cougars Burckel, Cherry, Hyland, Lael Lockhart Jr. and Way all hit safely. Burckel and Way each doubled, respectively.
• Houston recorded a season-high 16 runs, the most since an 18-7 victory over Tulane on May 24, 2018, in the American Athletic Conference Championship in Clearwater, Fla.
• The Cougars recorded a season-high 17 hits, the most since a 17 effort against UNC on June 3, 2018, in the Chappell Hill Regional in North Carolina.
Pitching:
• Sophomore southpaw Jared Pettitte (1-0) earned his first career win in one inning and two-thirds in the start in a Johnny Wholestaff effort.
• Junior Carter Henry recorded the final out of the second inning.
• Junior Tyler Bielamowicz retired all seven batters face in two and one-third scoreless innings.
• Sophomore Ron Brown was called on for the final two outs of the fifth.
• Sophomore Spencer Hynes logged two scoreless frames to seal the run-rule after seven innings.
