ON SAM HOUSTON STATE
• The Bearkats enters the week with a 15-6 record.
• SHSU is coming off a 2-1 series win at New Orleans over the weekend, and on Monday, Junior Hayden Wesneski was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for his complete-game in the rubber game against the Privateers on Sunday.
• Senior right fielder Jordan Cannon leads the Southland Conference and ranks fifth in the nation in batting average (.450) and sixth in on-base percentage (.560).
• Freshman left fielder Colton Cowser leads SHSU in slugging percentage (.578), hits (30) and RBI (25), and is one of four Bearkats to have hit three home runs.
• Bearkats Hunter Hearn (First Team), Clayton Harp (Second Team) and Wesneski (Second Team) were named Preseason All-SLC. All three were named All-Conference in 2018.
• The Bearkats, who have won four SLC titles in the last four seasons (2016 regular season and conference tournament, 2017 conference tournament, 2018 regular season), were tabbed to repeat in the SLC Preseason Poll entering the 2019 season.
• SHSU is batting .303 as a team and has a 4.86 ERA, compared to opponents’ .273 average and 6.13 ERA.

Tonight is the night we start beating these guys again. I think we only have 2 wins vs. the Bearkats the last three seasons.

Looks like Whiting’s found a lineup he’s going to stick with. Not bad, really, especially if Padgett, Triolo, and Lockhart can get going.

By the way, didn’t go tonight and they Win. Thinking it’s me. I may test this out 1 more time this year, but if they lose, I may stay away the rest of the season. I’ll just donate money to the program for games that I miss.

Thinking too much like a superstitious baseball player.
