ON UConn
• The Huskies enter the postseason with a 33-22 overall record.
• UConn is coming off a 3-1 week, defeating Rhode Island before taking two of three at Tulane to close the regular season.
• For his efforts last week, junior catcher Pat Winkel was named The American Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season.
• Senior center fielder Michael Woodworth leads the Huskies and finished the regular season ranked fourth in The American in runs scored (52). Woodwhorth also holds top marks for UConn in hits (69) and home runs (5).
• Junior Jacob Wallace led the conference in saves (14), a mark which ranks tied for third in the nation.
• UConn is batting .266 as a team and has a 3.92 ERA, compared to opponents’ .253 average and 4.40 ERA.

We did face Wang once this season…3rd game of the UCONN series that we lost 9-3 (I was there and remember it vividly).

We did touch up Wang for 3 runs and 4 hits through 4.1 IP. The bullpen then came on and shut the bats down as we only had 3 hits and 1 walk the rest of the way.

His last starter outing was last Tuesday against Rhode Island, he only pitched 2.1 IP and gave up a hit and a walk He did also get in a game on Saturday against Tulane where he pitched 1.0 IP and gave up 2 hits. His longest outing of the year came against UCF the weekend after he pitched against us; went 5 IP. Wouldn’t expect him to go long and expect them to use their bullpen arms.

Bottom 2nd

1 out double, 2 out homer…Huskies lead 2-0

T3…UCONN leads 2-0

Top 3rd

New pitcher for UCONN - Jeff Kersten who’s pitching on 3 days rest after throwing 105 pitches in his last outing.

Been that way all year. Put runners on and no clutch hits. UConn gets a hit and then great at bat by #7 hitter. I turned it off…too frustrating, going back to my work. I still say better to stay home this year. Jmo.

I have to respectfully disagree. Any time get a chance to play in The Dance is a good thing. Even if go 2 and out its invaluable experience for the returning players. It’s also a great way to end your baseball journey for the vast majority that are not going on to pro ball.

I know. I’m just too frustrated w this year’s team. My selfish way of not having to see the same thing game after game. It’s the hitting that has been problem most of the year. Not watching anymore, just get notification twitter updates from JD.

With 1 out, UCONN goes to the bullpen and bring in CJ Dandeneau

And he’s met by a Joe Davis homer…Tied 2-2

Triolo then K’s but reaches 1st on the dropped ball by the catcher. Coogs get nothing else

M6…Tied 2-2

It’s warm with wind blowing out to left. Joe finally got one in the air and it goes out. I thought it was going to be caught on the warning track. Triolo’s was a no doubter, though

We needed to finally catch some luck. Glad it came right then. All new ballgame.
