He grew up singing at Progressive New Hope Baptist on Elgin in the Third Ward.
Best known for “I Can See Clearly Now”, and introduced Bob Marley and the Wailers to the world.
Also owned the Johnny Nash Indoor Arena, a rodeo arena on the South Side (on Orem Drive) for a long time.
