John Palmer Art has named the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work (“GCSW”) as its 2018 Nonprofit of the Year. After a tremendous amount of research and meetings with nonprofit staff and volunteers, John Palmer Art is incredibly excited to now select and support this major institution of learning for the entire calendar year through the raising of funds, increasing awareness and hosting events. It is the mission of the GCSW to prepare diverse leaders in practice and research to address complex challenges and achieve sustainable social, racial, economic, and political justice, locally and globally, through exceptional education, innovative research, and meaningful community engagement. Just as Palmer empowers artists through his Escapist Mentorship Program, the GCSW empowers its students to meaningfully impact the community by addressing complex social problems in Houston and beyond.
