Lone Star Prospects - 2018 class

I disagree that this was Herman recruiting for UT all along.

We try and go big game hunting early on the process and make the players say no before moving on.

For 2017 we offered around 150 players, and I bet half of those offers were to people we had a 1% chance of getting.

2018 is a long way away. We have plenty of time to get the 3 star Houston talent.

I don’t know what the NCAA rules are on this, but I would love to see the new guy take Ed Oliver to some Westfield games next fall. Ed is a rock star. If we could arrange for him to talk to the Westfield team about how great it is to be at UH, that will likely mean a lot more to them than whatever a new coach has to say.

Ed and Marcus are there all the time wearing UH gear. They were this past Saturday for the playoff game and missed the team meeting. I don’t think we’ll lose that Westfield pipeline because Meekins left.

Agreed, there are other ties our program has to Westfield then just Meekins that haven’t bolted…

Sumlin and Herman understood that their first stops at houston would be to use it to establish recruiting ground around the metropolis.
No coincidence that Sumlin ended up at A&M and Herman at UT.
The question is, where Major’s ultimate destination, LSU ?
How does Houston stop this !

Hire a Coog. Jason Phillips might have been that guy.

Before we start hyping up, Major, let’s see if he can lead a team into winning a conference championship, and win 10+ games. I still have my reservations, and think that he is better suited as an assistant than the lead man. Maybe we hired him by default.

Oh no, the sky is falling… Who knew?

You lost me on your comment about Jason Phillips, who has been a journeyman coach at best. He is no doubt a decent recruiter but outside of that his ability is very limited IMO. I have been skeptical about Major but I think our first pick was the OU assistant and when that fell through our best choice was to stay with the internal pick.
I think Herman was pretty conservative at times trying to run the dang ball. His intentions were good but we did not have the OL to get that done. I think the Major could surprise…at least let’s hope so…Go Coogs…
