- Leaving today (Tuesday) for Honolulu after practice yesterday. Long trip
- Never played a bad bowl game or a bad team in the bowl game
- Tough on families to see the last game because you usually have to travel far
- Tedford has turned around Fresno State quickly in his first year
- FSU has a great defense, lists off stats
- Losses have come to Alabama, Washington and Boise State…pretty good opponents
- Spending more time in the offensive game room with Johnson gone
- Different element to bowl season with signing day on Wednesday
- Coach Guiton goes upstairs for the game. Receivers have to adjust.
- No recruiting on and off campus - dead period started Monday. Can only talk on phone
- No contact while in the air. About the time we land and check-in, kids will be signing.
- Extremely excited about players coming in. Great guys and parents.
- Cool part of the business, to be able to sit in the living rooms with the parents and listen to their stories.
- Positive for the players and coaches to sign early.
- Better for the next class as the coaches can focus on the next year’s class sooner
- February signing date still in play.
- You don’t sign early, are you really committed? We probably need to move on if you aren’t willing to sign early.
- List off possible reasons why kids wouldn’t sign early. Legitimate reasons would be that kids didn’t really get to play until their senior year and are just now getting noticed.
- Exciting time with Ed Oliver on the awards circuit. Very humble kid that’s focused. Great to see Houston on the national stage and great to see a Houston kid win awards with UH.
- Matt mentions that Pezman and he are good friends.
- No significant injuries going into the bowl game.
- Will get to tend to a 2 year old on the long flight to Ed. Jokes that he’ll sit him next to Ed Oliver and let them have fun together.
