Once again, a very slow start, 9th place halfway through the first round 14 strokes out of first. Lots of time to recover but also a lot of teams to climb over.
Williams will start the day for Houston at 7:17 a.m. (CDT) with Tracy (7:25 a.m.) Gonzalez (7:34 a.m.), Gardner (7:42 a.m.) and Perras (7:51 a.m.) following.
I thought the same thing. When we lost Chris Hill it seems we started going down but we also gave more responsibility to Diz taking on a women’s program that has done well. Dont know if we can bring him back but would like to see if there is anyone that Diz can bring in to get this ship righted. I was also shocked to hear that USF has won 4 straight championships. WOW!
Coogs finish 6th, Perras ties for 8th. Perras might get selected to go to the regionals, but I’m not sure the team will. According to Golfstat, they were ranked 58th as of the 18th which probably puts them outside the bubble.
Our best player shot a 217. USF’s fourth best player shot a 217. That about sums it up.
In golf it’s not about coaching up the player. Typically, collegiate golfers have had a lifetime of personal teaching instruction. It’s about recruiting and for the past four years USF has recruited better than UH.
UP NEXT Following the American Athletic Conference Championships, the Cougars will learn their NCAA postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show, set for 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, on Golf Channel.
