Nathaniel Mechler clocks a personal best 8.29 in the 60-meter hurdles to open the second day of the heptathlon and score 910 points! #GoCoogs #HTownSpeedCity
Up to 10th with 2 events to go
Mechler into 8th as two of his competitors above him couldnât complete the pole vault. 8th is a scoring position. Still close enough to move higher with a good 1K result.
Note: and pole vault still ongoing.

Only 2 points out of 7th, but only 10 points ahead of 9th. Lot can happen.

On the board with a big point.
You beat me too it!!! Still in the running for the NC,
NEW SCHOOL RECORD! Kahmari Montgomery takes fourth in the 400-meter dash in 45.24 to pick up five more points for the Cougars! #GoCoogs #HTownSpeedCity
Looks like no NC, but what performances by all so far!
Track and basketball, I am exhausted.
Eli Hall shatters the collegiate record in the 200m and completes the double.
Same, they need to schedule these better so that we Coogs can watch it all.
Are we still in the running for a title? We have the 4X400 left but I think thatâs it.
We have a chance. Top team is Georgia with 32 points. Coogs Currently in 5th with 26 points and will need to probably win the 4x400 which is doable and will put us at 36 points.
Of the 4 teams ahead of us, Texas Tech has athletes competing (Triple Jump and 4x400). Their 4x400 team probably wonât score (shouldnât even be there) and their Triple Jumper is sitting 9th right now. Tech has 28 points right now.
USC also has their 2nd rated 4x400 team team and have 27 points right now. Coogs have to beat them in the relay.
Team to watch though is Florida. Theyâre sitting at 21 points, but they have the top 4x400 team and 2 very good triple jumpers left. They may clinch the title before the 4x400 starts if their jumpers score high enough (1st and 3rd which is where they currently sit).
Oh thatâs good to hear. I know Virginia Tech and Georgia are done and was worried about Texas Tech but sounds like we should pass the four above us. I am worried about Florida now.
Really irritating how they changed the rules re: the 4x400 after the fact for the benefit of the so-called power 5. Adding 4 teams changed the whole dynamics of the event.
Agreed, those teams donât belong and it will make the rest of the athletes wait around longer.
