Maybe. Big issue right now is money.

Any update on expected opening? I kinda wish it was opening this week and Major would lock the team out after Saturday’s game.

Field turf now rolling in.

Picturing it rolled up on the roof of Applewhite’s car as if he picked it up from the store.

It looks like they are about to pour the concrete for walkway at the ipf

Thunderstorms all week. Did they place the turf yet?

Just as they were finishing pouring the concrete it starts raining…

They did not do a good job on the walkway. The surface isn’t level as there is a huge puddle of water on the lower part.

They are putting up the letters of HOUSTON on the South wall. It’s beginning to look complete.

Don’t see it…maybe I am looking at the wrong camera !!

They are finishing the sub base. Here is what’s coming next.

I sure hope that we did not choose a crumb rubber infill. Even in an indoor environment artificial turf gets very hot to your feet. I much prefer the following examples.

USGreentech has the best infill on the market today.

Envirofill reduces the temperature of the turf by as much as 25/30 F, is anti-microbial and it does not stick to your clothing.
Typically a new artificial outdoor field cost between $700k, low end to as much as $2.5M. The life span is not good. You are looking at about 8 to 10 years. It will then cost around $350k to $500k to replace the turf. What is tricky about artificial turf? The maintenance. Yes, it is not maintenance free. You have to groom it at least once a week. If you do not? The infill will start to compact and basically start to glue to the turf backing. Think of it as carpet. Controlled Products is another major player.

I am a big supporter of regular turf.Artificial turf is getting better but it is still way off from regular grass.

So, is the interior going to be painted after the turf goes in? That doesn’t seem very practical.

The IPF with UH logo underneath the Houston skyline may end up being marketing genious. Every game will showcase our new practice facility and continues to help us brand as Houston’s college team.
