New Indoor practice facility video - Construction begins Friday, Nov 18th

So your suggestion is for the visitor upper deck and the top half of the middle section, approximately 10k seats, just to remain empty?

Please explain. You don’t think TDECU can be built out to 60,000 seats?

It probably can. There’s a lot of room on the north side.

It would just be hideously asymmetrical, as the South side was not designed to be expandable.

Right now, there are 10K seats on the South side 300 level, 4K seats on the North Side 300 level, and 0 seats in the East End Zone 300 level.

Bringing the 300 level to the same “height” on the North side and East End Zone as the South side gives you about a 50,000 stadium. This is the perfect stopping point from an aesthetics point of view.

Here’s what I am talking about. The seating in bright red would get us to 50K or so. Note: the gap fill was not in the original plan. But the downtown view is gone now from the press box and below, and filling the gap doesn’t impede the view from the South 300 level.

Also, I don’t show the new press box on the North side, or a potential club level above the West end zone.

TCU’s Stadium is very asymmetrical:

Does anybody know if the interior is 100 yards plus 20 or so more beyond the end zone? Several schools have this additional yardage in one endzone and was wondering if we will have that.

19’ endzone and sideline runoff.

Thanks. In some idle time I went conference by conference (p5) researching indoor practices fields and found that ours will be among if not the largest in college football. Also, the supposedly 30-yard long side addition is more like 60 yards.

Is there a weight room?

I have a feeling that’ll come in the Football Facilities Building

I thought that the side addition would eventually become the weight room.

It’s just meant to be a practice field that is indoors. With a $20 million annual budget deficit, we can’t justify duplicating facilities.

It sure is HUGE!

That’s what she said. :joy:

Anyways, how far away are we from paying for this facility?

Did we ever cover the stadium or get a final cost there?
