Kyle Bunn from Middle Tennessee. Looks like hes been around awhile.
Seems to have been pretty successful at most every stop in his career!
“In 2019, Kyle Bunn led the Blue Raiders to their lowest ERA total since 2014 in his first season as the pitching coach. Bunn’s pitchers allowed the fewest walks in C-USA, after allowing the most in 2018. 11 of 14 pitchers from the previous season, improved their ERA under Bunn’s tutelage.”
The Pitching Coach and the Tennessee coach on paper look like great moves by Whitting. On paper, it looks like big upgrades in what we have had the past few seasons. Hopefully they can get out there and recruit, especially locally.
Great hires. Both guys are good player developers and Bunn gets us back to the Frank Anderson style of pitching that we’ve longed for.
I don’t follow closely enough to know the difference in pitching styles. What’s the difference in philosophy? Did Anderson prefer to pound the strike zone and Rooney nibble around the edges?
Think difference is some just seem to tolerate walks and others don’t. I’m in the camp of those that unless you’re a Nolan Ryan, then you’re burying yourself…can’t defend against a walk
