Let’s add Wade Phillips (LAR) to the mix. His defense was stout yesterday against the Texans as they held the Texans to 7 points and 283 yards while forcing 4 turnovers in a 33-7 Rams victory. Rams are now 7-2 on the season and 1 game ahead of the Seahawks.
DJ Hayden (Det) had a good day in the Lions 38-24 win over the Browns. DJ had 2 tackles and 1 pass defensed. The Lions are now 5-4, 2 back of division leading Minnesota, and 1 back of a wild card spot.
William Jackson (CIN) had a good day up until injuring his toe in the 3rd quarter which caused him to miss the remainder of the game. Jackson had 2 solo tackles, a QB sack, a tackle for loss and a QB hit. However, without Jackson and Adam Jones, the Bengals gave up the go-ahead TD with 36 seconds left to fall to the Titans 24-20. Brandon Wilson (CIN) also played, but didn’t record a stat as he was primarily used on special teams. Wilson did make a great play downing a punt at the one (see clip in previous post). The Bengals are now 3-6 and probably not going to the postseason.
Joey Mbu (IND) got into the game and recorded a tackle in a 20-17 loss to the Steelers. Steelers were down 17-3 halfway through the 3rd, but scored 17 straight and kicked the winning FG as time expired. The Colts are now 3-7 and probably out of any playoff race.
Tampa Bay got a win, 15-10 over the Jets, and Charles Sims (TB) got to touch the ball more than a couple of times. Sims had 3 rushes for 20 yards and 3 receptions, on 4 targets, for 10 yards and a TD. The Sims TD made it 15-3 with 6:10 left to go and basically sealed the game. Bucs are 3-6 and 3 games back in the wildcard race.
Case Keenum (MIN) had a day to remember as he led the Vikings to a 38-30 win over the Redskins. Case’s line: 21-29 304 yds 4 TD 2 INT and 3 rushes for -1 yards. The Vikings continue to roll at 7-2, are currently tied for 2nd in the NFC, and would start with a bye if the playoffs started today.
Elandon Roberts (NE) was let loose as the Patriots blitzed Brock Osweiler relentlessly in the Patriots 41-16 win over the Broncos. Roberts didn’t get to the QB, but he did make 4 tackles and repped UH in NBC’s starting lineup graphic (see post above). The Patriots are currently tied with Pittsburgh atop the AFC at 7-2.
