Tyus Bowser had a monster coming out party in the Ravens 24-10 win over the Browns. Bowser had 2 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack, another QB hit, a pass defensed and an interception that he returned for 27 yards.
The Patriots put Elandon Roberts on the field more this week and he responded with 8 tackles, 7 solo, in their 36-20 win over the Saints.
We have another thread dedicated to his performance, bu Case Keenum started in the VIkings 26-9 loss to Pittsburgh. Keenum went 20-37 for 167 yards and was sacked twice.
Charles Sims didn’t see much action in the Bucs 29-7 win over the Bears. Sims had 2 carries for 2 yards and 2 receptions on 3 targets for 7 yards. He also lost a fumble in the 3rd quarter.
DJ Hayden and the Lions are in New York to face the Giants Monday night.
The second-round pick out of Houston made a crucial interception of quarterback Kevin Hogan with 30 seconds left in the first half and returned it to the Cleveland 40-yard line. The Ravens offense punched it in the end zone three plays later behind a 37-yard Buck Allen run and 2-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Jeremy Maclinwith one second left.
Bowser came close to notching a safety as well. In the second quarter, with the Browns backed up to their own 7-yard line, Bowser pressured Hogan, and right tackle Shon Coleman had no choice but to hold. Had the hold happened in the end zone, it would have been a safety. Instead, Bowser ripped through the hold and still brought Hogan down for a 2-yard loss.
Bowser is a very serious, very focused rookie. Harbaugh said that when Bowser doesn’t do things 100 percent right, he really gets down on himself. “Sometimes I have to grab him a little bit and tell him, ‘It’s going to be OK, man.’” Harbaugh said.
Playing in front of a packed M&T Bank Stadium in a regular-season game, Bowser said the crowd gave him a lot of energy.
Notching his first career interception and first career sack in his first game at M&T Bank Stadium isn’t a bad start.
Elandon Roberts was also a big contributor in slowing the run game. The linebacker might have been on the back of a milk carton the first week, but he was all over the place against the Saints as one of the leading tacklers along with safety Patrick Chung, as each had eight stops.
DJ Hayden and the Lions finished off this week’s action by beating the Giants 24-10. Hayden recorded one pass defensed.
Also, Greg Ward was signed back to the Eagles practice squad after being cut last week
