Don’t turn the ball over and UH will be fine. Make Tulsa drive the field and don’t give up the big play and they’ll usually implode somewhere along the way. I know people want to blitz and pressure but Tulsa is a turnover prone team and will make a mistake. Don’t get antsy if they hit a few passes early.

Tulsa can run it a bit but UH should be able to shut that down. I would say UH wins by at least 20.

it “SHOULD” be a blowout. Tulsa isn’t good.

I’m taking my oldest boy (8) to the game tonight. When I left for work this morning, he asked if UH was better than Tulsa. I explained that we are, but the game still might be competitive because you never know. He asked if I could take him to another game soon that was more competitive because so far he’s only been to UH blowouts. Let’s hope we leave the game tonight with him disappointed yet again! Go Coogs!

Most of those turnovers, both INTs and fumbles, were from the QB who is not starting tonight. Last year they changed the QB for our game too. That unknown has me a little concerned

What’s strange to me is that Chad President has apparently fallen off the face of the earth. The guy they are talking about starting tonight (Seth Boomer) is a redshirt freshman and hasn’t taken a single snap this year. And his first game will be on the road against the likes of Ed Oliver, Isaiah Chambers, Jerard Carter and Payton Turner. And no, this is not the same as facing Alan Bowman. He played 3 quarters of the game against Ole Miss and the entire game against Lamar before playing us. I understand Tulsa needs to make a change from Luke Skipper, but this new kid is being thrown into a fire tonight. If our defense can’t handle what it sees tonight, I will have lost every bit of the last remaining faith I have in the defense.

The Cougars will make use of this Thursday night tilt to cement themselves as contenders for the American Athletic Conference title. Houston’s lone loss was a wild shootout against a Texas Tech team that has proven themselves to be the real deal in 2018. Quarterback D’Eriq King leads a multi-faceted, explosive Houston offense which has yet to be held under 45 points. Expect Houston to match its all time record offensive output against Tulsa. In 1968, the Cougars hosted Tulsa at the Astrodome and put up 100 points.

Final Score: Houston 100 Tulsa 6

…he’s only been to UH blowouts.

You should take your boy to every game. :grinning:

Skipper had his first start against us last year although he played a lot the week before. He didnt exactly tear it up against us.

But they got that running game going. Hopefully the defense wants revenge for the 288 yards rushing they had last year

LOL! Well, that was mostly on purpose. I took him to the Lamar game in 2016 and the TSU game this year, the thought being that if he runs out of patience and wants to go home early, it’s not that big of a deal. He’s staying for the whole game tonight whether he likes it or not! Time for that kid to grow up!

Good point. I just can’t see them running for that much against us this year, but I guess anything’s possible. Most of those rushing yards came from D’Angelo Brewer who is no longer there. The problem last year was our offense was awful. We scored 17 points against a team that gave up 28.8 per game and turned the ball over 3 times. The offense will certainly not be the problem this year. Hopefully those are not famous last words.

To the students at the MD Anderson Library at gametime…get your butts to the Stadium!

President tore his ACL in the final game of their season last year and I don’t think he’s fully healthy after that even though he’s listed as available.

Oh man. I had no idea. Thanks for the info. Looking at Tulsa’s stats, President does have 1 carry for -2 yards this year.

I did see that they landed Baylor transfer Zach Smith, but he has to sit out this year.
