• Army and Bryant squared off this past weekend. Here are some nuggets from that bout. Army seniors Cam Opp and Sam Messina stood out. Opp is a talented lefty who sat 90-92 against the Bulldogs, while Messina was the same from the right side. Offensively for West Point, junior outfielder Jacob Hurtubise was an electric leadoff hitter. He has impressive athleticism and speed, and he’s also a strong defender in the outfield … For the Bulldogs, sophomore Ryan Ward had a physical presence and showed good gap to gap power and bat speed. He used the entire field well. Freshman Jake Gustin put together an impressive day at the plate, while junior lefthander/slugger Chris Wright was a standout. Wright was up to 90 on the hill, while he sprayed the ball all over the field at the plate.
