Opponent Watch 2019: Lamar

Lamar looks to restore some order as the ’19 campaign nears, and there are some intriguing names to watch with this group. Texas A&M kickback Jorge Gutierrez is someone who could thrive in the Southland Conference. Gutierrez had some academic issues at A&M that held him back, but he had serious power potential and was going to start for the Aggies last season. JC Correa, the brother of big leaguer Carlos Correa, earned some solid reviews at the West Coast League this past summer and has some power potential, while juco transfer Anthony Quirion has a chance to make an instant impact. Quirion was an NECBL All-Star this past summer and is showing a solid approach with the bat … On the mound, lefty Jason Blanchard has a quality arm to watch with a fastball ranging 90-92, while fellow lefty Grason Wright is 88-91 with potential in his 6-foot, 200-pound frame. Righties Erik Key and Luke Baley each have been up to 93 this fall, while Ryan Erickson and Noah Sills are impressing the coaching staff and are primed for outstanding 2019 campaigns.
