The Huskies have to replace their top two hitters from last year’s Conway Regional finals team (catcher Zac Susi and center fielder Troy Stefanski), plus leading home run hitter Isaac Feldstein in right field. But Woodworth and senior left fielder John Toppa (.283/.368/.359) still give UConn plenty of experience in the outfield, and juco transfer Michael Chiovitti opened eyes in the fall with his ability to hit from the left side and defend in right field as well as center. Two California juco transfers, David Langer and Cole Brodnansky , will also help bolster the lineup depth and fight for regular playing time at DH or perhaps some corner spot. Brodnansky brings some much-needed righthanded thump and an advanced approach at the plate, while Langer can grind out at-bats and use the gaps.
