SMU has the most difficult schedule of any team in the American Athletic Conference per ESPNâs FPI index.
Bold strategy, Cotton, letâs see how it turns out.
The first team meeting on the first day of camp will be about special teams. So will the first periods of practice. Thatâs how itâll always be, because Dykes has decided to coach special teams himself, along with analyst Scott Nady.
âThe fact the head coach is running special teams means this sââs important,â Dykes tells the Mustangs.
SMU going with Freshman Will Brown at QB against Navy. Hicks is benched. SMU needs the mobile QB because their OL is getting pounded this year.
that should be good news but after seeing the cougar defense and defensive playcalling get torched by tech, I suspect every game will be a defensive adventure.
I donât know if the west division appears more difficult each weak or more beatable. Same with our schedule. ECU is gonna be a tougher challenge than I thought. Temple was a sleeper, then a dud, now looking like what people were expecting.
Just illustrates how difficult it can be to get young men to perform consistently week to week. College football, at all levels, is a pressure packed gig for coaches and players. Even Bama, and Saban, have off weeks. Just glad it was not this week for them. BTW, I think the AAC West is very winnable for the Coogs.
Well, this bodes well for us. Just need to get off the field on third downs early and often.
