OT: Memphis Might Fire Tubby Smith for Penny Hardaway? (Update: Tubby out, Penny hired)

Memphis is going to win more than UConn. Penny is going to bring in stars and stars win games.

That’s what pastner said lol

Money matters. How do y’all not see this and what’s going to happen. Maybe UConn in the long haul but Memphish in the here and instant gratification now.

I give it all a solid “m’eh.”

Noticed that the top center in the nation, 7’4" Conner Vanover decommitted from Memphis after Tubby was fired and the #2 JUCO player took Memphis off his list as well.

Well if Penny delivers on his HS starts then it won’t matter as much. But if he doesn’t deliver them that’s a problem.

Samson says coaches win game, administrators win championships. What do players do? Guess we’ll see. My guess is these guys will be similar to the fab five.

Good step toward bringing the Memphis fans back. Give them a rivalry game they really want.
Home & Home then in Nashville.

No !

Memphis throwing around the money
also owe Tubby $10M

Memphis men’s basketball coach Penny Hardaway’s three-year contract is worth at least $4.8 million and includes lucrative incentives based on attendance and season ticket sales, according to a memorandum of understanding obtained by The Commercial Appeal through an open records request with the university.

Hardaway will earn $1.3 million in total compensation during his first year on the job and his salary will increase to $1.6 million in year two. The third year of the contract includes a salary of $1.9 million.

And Gary Parrish is reporting this morning that Larry Brown will join the staff if the administration signs off.

So Sampson is due a raise?

Should we start a pool on here for when Larry Brown quits because he’s been caught cheating again? My guess is less than 2 years.

“If Penny can figure things out at Memphis and Danny Hurley figures things out at UConn all while SMU, Cincinnati and Wichita State remain consistently in the mix for the NCAA tournament, we’re looking at the AAC being a strong league, particularly at the top.”

-Take out SMU
Insert UH.

the just picked up 3 4star (1 is a espn 100) in a 3 day stretch (also a 6’10 grad transfer juco)
whats scary is that his 2019 class is what was supposed to be his magical class

First in AAC. Top 30 nationwide. Might be higher if that JUCO gets ranked.
