OT: Memphis Might Fire Tubby Smith for Penny Hardaway? (Update: Tubby out, Penny hired)

Yeah, but we don’t know how good of a coach Penny is. I doubt he can coach at the level of Sampson, atleast not as of yet. I mean we had House, Chicken, Tashawn and we got nothing out of them.

larry brown will be there in some capacity

If Larry is involved, I smell a rat !!

It would be good for Memphis to improve under lil’ Penny. The AAC needs to be a 4- or 5-bid league so Conf SOS will be respectable and we won’t have to sweat out the Selection Show.

“Basically forever, he was considered a lock for John Calipari and Kentucky. But then Memphis fired Tubby Smith last month and replaced him with Penny Hardaway. So now Wiseman’s recruitment is totally up in the air – mostly because Hardaway has a strong relationship with Wiseman that’s rooted in the fact that he spent the past year coaching the five-star phenom at East High in Memphis.”

Penny sure does think a lot of himself.

Is it okay to refer to him as Anfernee? He’s too old to be called Penny.

Would the Moderator please destroy this thread. I’m so damn sick of seeing Memphis at the top of a thread. It’s been done, lose it.

So the only coach on the staff with college experience will be Tony Madlock.

Should we be worried about Memphis now?

I’m sure tbere some other things to worry about in life.

I was just in Memphis the past 2 days. People that I talked to are excited that Penny is the coach. They think he is the real deal. When I mentioned the failed Clyde experiment they shrugged it off because, in their mind, at least Penny has some coaching experience and knows the kids. At the very least, he has created some buzz and excitement in Memphis.

On a side note, if you ever go to Memphis, I highly recommend Rendezvous for ribs. They were outstanding.

Central BBQ is better.

We went to Rendevous in 2006 for the Liberty Bowl. So good!
