Potential Opponent Watch 2018: UCF

According to UCF posters on CSNBBS, he was running with the second team in the spring. So many speculate that he lost the starting position and left.

UCF folks aren’t going to be any happier with this ranking from Yahoo:

Yahoo Sports’ 2018 Top 25: No. 22 Central Florida

Prediction
The Knights aren’t going undefeated again, but they will win the AAC. They’ll enter the conference title game at 10-2 with losses to FAU and Memphis, but the rematch with Memphis with the AAC crown on the line will go in the Knights favor.

Man, that’s a bold prediction saying UCF will lose to FAU! Not completely out of the question, but that’s not the team on their schedule (besides Memphis) that I would bet to provide that second loss.

Also, I don’t think we’re losing to Memphis this year. UCF will be playing UH at UH for the conference title.

UCF enters the 2018 with a huge target on its back after going 13-0 last season and the Knights aren’t taking anything for granted. The offense is loaded with talented players at every skill position led by Milton, who could make a strong case for the Heisman Trophy this year. The offense could be better under Heupel. The defense, however, is unrefined at some spots and may need time to develop.

Barring a collapse, UCF should contend for another conference championship and push for a return to a New Year’s Six bowl game.

This clown picks UH at 68. In your worst nightmare, dude.

This shows we need to get some heavy effective pressure on this dude.

“The kickoff return is an explosive play, but a really good kickoff return is 23 yards,” Toth explains. “If you look at rankings and stuff like that, 23 [yards] puts you in the top quarter of the country and if you raise your hand and fair catch it, you get it at the 25, so you are giving to get.”

According to the NCAA, there were eight teams that averaged more than 25 yards per kickoff attempt in 2017, with UCF averaging 24.83 yards per return.

When we see these PFF stats, the AAC has some talent. These conference is going to win a lot of games against P5 teams.

The UCF Knights will take a 13-game winning streak into their 2018 season opener.

What’s next for the Knights in year one under Head Coach Josh Heupel? We have your final summer football preview!

Milton, despite seeing pressure on 138 of his total 437 dropbacks, had a passer rating of 89.2, or 31.5 points above the NCAA average, showcasing that although his passer rating did drop when pressured, it was still well above average. What was even more remarkable is that when given time and a clean pocket, his passer rating of 136.2 also was a stark 39.0 points higher than the average.

As good as he was with a clean pocket and when pressured, another tough aspect of quarterback play is diagnosing defensive schemes on any given play, both coverages and blitzes. On 111 dropbacks when Milton was blitzed, he recorded a 127.4 passer rating, completing 67 of 108 passes for 982 yards and 13 touchdowns against one interception, displaying a great understanding of his opponents, even against extra rushers.
