Rice...Take 3...Constellation Field (W 6-5)

Respond well or not, we can’t rely on someone that consistently gives up 5, 6, 7 runs in the first inning.

Nice Comeback. Nice Win.

That’s a relief. Hopefully this will give us a little momentum going into Tulane.

Henry is a young freshman who has struggled all year and then appeared to blowup again by giving up five runs in the first inning. Well, maybe, just maybe, the kid turned it around the rest of the way with a gutsy performance. I think he continues to mature and develops into a solid pitcher before he is finished here…great comeback win after getting owned five straight by Sam and these Owls…

Strange thing about Henry is that it seems like it’s just a Rice thing.

Against Rice (2 G 2 GS), he’s given up 12 earned runs in 8 IP.

Against everyone else (10 G 2 GS) he’s given up 7 earned runs in 22.2 IP.

Freshman Carter Henry made his fourth start of his young career and produced one of the gutsiest starts of the year. After allowing five runs in the first inning, the righty settled in and retired Rice over the next 6.1 innings of work. Henry finished the game, surrendering just five runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Henry handed the ball over to fellow freshman teammate Brayson Hursdman, who was lights out in the 1.2 innings he worked, fanning one and not allowing a hit or run for the win. With the victory, Hurdsman improved to 3-2 on the year.Top Offensive Players
