2. Rob Gray went Shabazz Napier on San Diego State

March is made for shining moments and nobody in Day One of the NCAA Tournament understood that as well as Rob Gray.

Houston’s star guard went for 39 points and the game-winning layup with just over a second left in a thrilling 67-65 win over San Diego State.

Prior to hitting the layup, Gray knocked down a three-point shot from the top of the key which the Aztecs answered in the ensuing possession in a sequence that was reminiscent of what Napier did when he led UConn to the 2014 national title.

Gray also finished with eight rebounds and was 12-25 from the field and 11-15 from the free-throw line.

Kelvin Sampson’s team will next face Michigan on Saturday.
