Eligible in 2019?
Article says he will use his redshirt year to transfer. Sounds like 2020.
Mwaniki, a Denton (Texas) Guyer alumnus, was a bright young player as a true freshman in 2017. He recorded 22 tackles and an interception.
He began the 2018 season as a starter, but was supplanted by Jarrick Bernard. Mwaniki recorded 17 tackles in seven games before deciding to transfer.
Because he played as a true freshman, Mwaniki has a redshirt available. He’ll have three seasons to play two at Houston.
Some impressive offers: UCLA, TCU, Baylor, Colorado, plus. Looks like a new DC came in and didn’t like what he brought to the table as much as previous guy, but he still started two games as a true freshman (won the OSU Newcomer of Year Award) and four as a sophomore on a solid Big 12 team. Glad we got him. We’re short-handed in the secondary.
I like that he had scholly offers from two service academies and Purdue. Smart kid.
We need corners.
Brad, I think you’ll be happy.
22 tackles.
Not bad
That looks like a really solid pickup there.
Looks like another great pickup! Is Mwaniki an Irish name???

Is this guy on campus, coming to campus, or gone from campus?
He’s on campus and enrolled in classes. He will not count against this class.
Thanks.
Why doesn’t Thabo count against 19?
He isn’t going to play this year due to transferring and will be a walk-on for now. Keeps scholarships open for the staff.
