Competing in the ‘A’ section of the women’s long jump, Samuels topped her previous best in the event by nearly a foot to finish third in the competition. The Houston, Texas, native used her third attempt to jump 20-6.25 (6.25m) and move to No. 9 on the NCAA Outdoor list this season. The award for Samuels is the first of her career.
