Shotzberger, formally the program’s Director of Player Development, has been elevated to Assistant Coach following the departure of longtime assistant Trip Couch. Shotzberger is a familiar face to the Houston program having spent the last six seasons in Scarlet and White.

“Coach [Ryan] Shotzberger is well deserving and has earned this opportunity to become a member of our coaching staff,” Whitting said. “He will be a great representative of the core values of our program and our current and future student-athletes will reap great benefits under his guidance.”

VanAllen, a former professional baseball player who played collegiately at Baylor, assumes the new role of Director of Player Development after serving as a manager the last two seasons while completing his undergraduate degree.

“I am extremely pleased to elevate Cory VanAllen to the position of Director of Player Development,” Whitting said. “Cory’s energy, attitude and experience as a great college and professional player, will be a huge benefit for our program.”
