That was pretty embarassing

Disappointing.
Here comes our conference swoon.

Thank you Romero.

I wonder if they just kicked him off the team, would the team refocus, and move on.

I wouldn’t blame all of this on Romero, you’re facing a team that gives up 6 runs a game and get a total of 3 hits and were no-hit by the Rice starter. Sure, you have Cumbie going instead of Henry, but you aren’t going to win if you can’t score runs.

Offense is a problem again and ECU has some solid starters that they are bringing to Houston this weekend.

Yep, they should have.

Dangerous weekend with how we’re playing. ECU has their backs against the wall at 0-3, and there doesn’t seem to be much heart in this team.

Agree,…I just hope Cumbie replacing Romero and this loss to Rice will give the team the spark they need to get things going in the right direction.

It seems like we ground into an absurd number of double plays and strand an even more absurd number of runners. We have to find some clutch hitting somewhere.

Top Offensive Players
Grayson Padgett | 1x3
Corey Julks | 1x4
Nick Slaughter | 1x1

The Cougars were held hitless until Grayson Padgett broke up the no-no with a single to open the bottom of the seventh. Houston went on to post three hits with Padgett, Julks, and Slaughter all reaching via the base knock.

Houston reached on three Rice errors, but three double plays would erase any chance of a Cougar rally.

Pitching Breakdown:
Carter Henry | 0.2 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Brayson Hurdsman | 2.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Joey Pulido | 2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Tyler Bielamowicz | 3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
Nolan Bond | 1.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Freshman starter Carter Henry made his second start of his young career and left after 0.2 innings of work, after Rice jumped out to a 7-0 run on six hits early off the righty. He would fall to 2-1 on the year with the loss.

_Houston used relievers Brayson Hurdsman and Joey Pulido, who managed to work around an inherited jam, keeping Rice to just one earned run over the next 4.0 innings. _

Freshman Tyler Bielamowicz was the bright spot on the bump Tuesday as the lefty went a career-long 3.1 shutout innings, not allowing a hit to Rice, while striking out a pair.

He handed the ball over to sophomore Nolan Bond, who tossed a scoreless ninth.
