Softball Adds Two for 2018

Stewart is a 5-5 outfielder out of UTSA where she played her freshman campaign in 2016. With the Roadrunners, she started 52 games between outfield (29) and designated player (23), leading the team in batting average (.394), on base percentage (.424), hits (74), stolen bases (22), runs (34) and fielding percentage (.984).

Stewart led all freshmen and finished second overall in Conference USA with 74 hits. For her efforts, she was named to the All-Conference USA First Team and All-Freshman Team.

A native of Pearland, Texas, Stewart was a four-year letterwinner at Pearland High School. For her career, she hit .475 with a .507 on base percentage, 64 RBI, 146 runs scored and 116 stolen bases. Stewart was a two-time All-Greater Houston Area pick, three-time NFCA All-Region selection and four-time All-District and Texas Sports Writers Association All-State honoree. She led Oilers to three district titles and four playoff berths.

She played club for Texas Hotshots and was a teammate of Presley Bell.

Stewart will have three years of eligibility remaining and is eligible to play immediately for Houston.


Jones is a 5-10 catcher out of Houston. She was a four-year letterwinner at St. John’s School and played club for Breakaway Speed. Jones was a three-time All-Southwest Preparatory Conference selection and two-time All-South Zone honoree.

Serving as team captain her senior year, she posted a .518 batting average with six home runs. As a junior, Jones helped lead the Mavericks to a SPC Championship.
