ON THE OPPONENT
• Houston is 11-7 all-time against McNeese and 2-2 in trips to Lake Charles, La.
• The Cowgirls enter Tuesday with a 16-8 record. McNeese, who was ranked No. 25 last week in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll, is in the midst of a four-game losing streak. Over the weekend, the Cowgirls were swept by Central Arkansas to open Southland Conference play.
• McNeese leads the Southland Conference in batting average (.297), slugging percentage (.460), on-base percentage (.401), home runs (21), RBI (109), runs scored (128), stolen bases (69) and walks (95).
• Two-time All-American and three-time SLC Hitter of the Year Erik Piancastelli leads the SLC in slugging percentage (.758), home runs (6) and doubles (9), while Justyce McClain leads the league in hits (34) and ranks second in batting average (.447) and on-base percentage (.517)
• The Cowgirls are led by Head Coach James Landreneau, who led the team to a 43-18 record his first season at the helm in 2017. In that season, McNeese won the SLC regular-season and tournament titles, for which he was named league’s Coach of the Year.
