Softball Takes Winning Streak to Orlando (G1: W 3-0) (G2: L 4-1) (G3: W 9-1)

The Cougars (32-15, 8-6 AAC) are looking to carry their momentum from Tuesday’s thrilling win into the weekend series with the Knights (28-17, 7-8 AAC), as Houston has now won six-straight contest and seven of its past eight overall.

UCF is one of Houston’s most familiar foes, having faced the Knights 40 times in the 13-year history between the programs. With the UCF holding the all-time series lead by a slight margin of two games, the two teams have been nearly neck-and-neck since Head Coach Kristin Vesely took the helm of the Cougar program.

In the past two years, each squad has won three games, with Houston holding a slim edge in the scoring department, 27-24. The last time Houston traveled to Orlando was in 2017, where the Cougars rallied in the seventh inning of the rubber match to come back and win the series, 2-1, marking the first time Houston claimed a season series over UCF since 2013.

Congrats. Love your leadership and winning ways. Hoping you guys can close out the year well and have a good seed for the Conference Tournament. This Conference has excellent softball teams in it which helps anneal the steel in our girls mental toughness by relieving internal stresses and improving the durability of maintaining that toughness. There have been several games recently this toughness has helped in overcoming a deficit late in games or making right defensive decisions on plays late in games.
Again Congrats on the 100 wins.

UCF was 50th in the RPI prior to this weekend so winning 2 out of 3 at their place was a huge boost for the Coogs this weekend.

Now, they come home to face SHSU Tuesday and ECU this weekend before the AAC Tourney next weekend…that’s also here.

What our record now? Does it look like we’ll make post season play?

34-16. I think, barring a collapse in the next few games, that we’re locked into a tourney spot.
