The University of Houston Swimming and Diving team returns to action this weekend when it sends a group of swimmers to the first of six meets that make up the TYR Pro Swim Series. The meet will be held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin, Texas from Jan. 11-14 and feature over 300 swimmers from around the world.

The meet will feature swimmers ranked in the top-50 internationally as well as those with one or more qualifying times this season. Prelims are slated for 9 a.m. each day, with finals beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday and 5:40 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Houston looks to open the New Year on a high note after heading into the holidays receiving votes in the CSCAA/TYR Polls for the first time under Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka. Houston closed out 2017 with an unblemished record in dual action to go along with a convincing win at the Phill Hansel Invitational.

“It was good to race again after a layoff over the holidays,” said Head Swimming & Diving Coach Ryan Wochomurka. “We are very encouraged with the performances we saw this weekend. We came to measure ourselves against the best athletes in the world and I’m proud of how we stepped up to that challenge. We are eager to carry this momentum back to the entire group to this Friday and Saturday against some tough SEC opponents.”
