Swimming Set for Competition at TYR Pro Swim Series

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

* Houston will be represented at the meet by five Cougars; Monique Rae, Mykenzie Leehy, Peyton Kondis, Laura Laderoute, and Ioanna Sacha.
* The five Cougars competing in Virginia combined for eight conference championships at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships earlier this year.
* The Long Course Meter meet will feature swimmers from around the world, both amateur and professional. Earlier this season at the Houston First Chance meet, Kondis and Leehy recorded Olympic Trial qualifying times in the long-course meter session. Kondis posted a qualifying time of 1:09.55 in the 100 Breaststroke, and Leehy finished with a time of 56.02 in the 100 Freestyle.
* Rae will compete this weekend after capturing her first American Championship after taking the top spot in the 200 Backstroke at The American Championships with a program-best time of 1:55.64 in the event.
* Laderoute captured two individual championships at the conference meet, setting a program record in the 100 Backstroke at the Houston First Chance meet.
* Sacha has quickly become a contributor to the Houston squad, holding a trio of top-10 times.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

* The meet will feature swimmers from around the world and can be watched online by clicking HERE. The finals on April 12-14 can be seen on NBCSports.com
* The prelims will begin at 9 a.m. each day and will be followed by the finals at 6 p.m. on each day, excluding Saturday when the finals will begin at 5:40 p.m. All times are Eastern.

HOW IT HAPPENED

* The Cougars opened the day a stellar performance from sophomore Mykenzie Leehy. Leehy finished 21st-overall in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:04.91.
* In the 100 Breaststroke, Peyton Kondis represented the Cougars finishing with a time of 1:11.03 in the prelims and advancing to the B-Final. In the final, Kondis turned in a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:11.47.
* Laura Laderoute and Ioanna Sacha represented the Cougars in the 50 Backstroke. Laderoute paced the Cougars finishing 10th-overall in the prelims (29.39) and turning in a third-place finish in the B-Final (29.38). Sacha qualified for the B-Final with a time of 30.47, finishing eighth at 30.89.

* Mykenzie Leehy got things going for the Cougars, finishing 23rd-overall in the prelims of the 50 Freestyle. Leehy finished the race with a time of 26.45.
* In the C-Final of the event, Leehy turned in a fifth-place finish with a time of 26.51.
* A trio of Cougars competed in the 100 Backstroke prelims, led by a 20th-place finish by Laura Laderoute. Laderoute closed out the race with a time of 1:03.54. Ioanna Sacha finished in 23rd-place with a time of 1:04.06. Monique Rae made her first appearance of the weekend, closing out the race in 27th-place at 1:04.93.
* In the C-Final of the 100 Backstroke, Laderoute led Houston with a fourth-place finish (1:03.57), followed by Sacha in eighth-place at 1:05.15.
* Peyton Kondis finished the 200 Breaststroke prelims in 11th-place with a time of 2:36.84, advancing to the B-Final. In the final, Kondis finished in sixth-place with a time of 2:35.58.

* Laura Laderoute opened the final day of action for the Cougars, finishing 22nd in the prelims of the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:22.81. In the C-Final of the event, Laderoute finished in seventh-place at 2:23.95.
* Monique Rae advanced to the A-Final of the 200 Backstroke after finishing in seventh-place at 2:19.24. Rae closed out the day with a seventh-place finish in the final, clocking a time of 2:20.21.
* Ioanna Sacha also competed in the 200 Backstroke, qualifying for the B-Final with a 16th-place finish at 2:19.24. In the final Sacha finished in eighth-place with a time of 2:20.21.
* Mykenzie Leehy represented the Cougars in the 100 Freestyle, qualifying for the B-Final after clocking a time of 56.98 for 19th-place. In the final, Leehy finished in fourth-place at 56.71.
* Peyton Kondis competed in the 50 Breaststroke, qualifying for the A-Final with a sixth-place finish at 31.99. In the final, Kondis closed out the day in eighth-place with a time of 31.97.
