Yeah, 7.64 meters (25 feet, 3/4 inch) qualified, he had 7.63m (25 feet, 1/2 inch). So he was around a quarter of an inch short. Dickerson was right behind him an inch short. I’m not sure about how they measure though.
I didn’t see video, but that is shocking with Kerr since he has jump a foot farther before.
Only 3 unless I am reading the results wrong. Even though Lewis had the 11th best time, the 2nd heat had 2 auto qualifiers slower. Another tough break for us.
Cant believe Hall only had the 24th best time in the 200. Something must have happened.
Good news, Lattin has been killing the hurdles. Most predictions didnt have him getting any points for us there and it is starting to look like a good possibility.
Top 3 in each heat auto-qualify, plus next 3 fastest times. Lewis was 3rd in heat 1 so he auto qualified.
Hall and Burrell also auto-qualified and Alexander got in on time. that’s 4.
Ended up being under the weather all weekend so didn’t get to track most of this live.
Thoughts:
Weather was a lot colder than most were expecting as it was in the low 60’s, high 50s. Carl thought that Kerr may have been affected by the cooler weather as he was coming along late in the season when it warmed up.
No idea on Hall right now. He’s been getting some bad starts, but I am starting to wonder if he’s banged up. Weather could have been affecting him as well. Just glad he was able to get the 100m and his time in that was solid so it makes me think he’s not injured. Track can be a finnicky sport.
Alexander qualifying for the 200m was a pretty big surprise. He was borderline to make it through and was the last qualifier, but this will be good experience for the freshman. Kid has really impressed this year.
Good on the women for booking trips to Eugene. Samuels, Hawkins, and Bethelx2. There’s a program building on that side this year.
Back to the men…are we still in the running for a national championship? Definitely, but without Kerr and Hall, we’ll need someone else to step up. Lattin should score points in at least one of the hurdling events and I can see Burrell, Hall, and Burke all scoring points in the 100m. May end up coming down to the 4x400 in the end. Hopefully, the Coogs are there.
