Lattin ”false started” in the 400. That may hurt

Interesting that the announcers suspected that Lattin may have false started intentionally. They suspected he might be hurt, and the coaches wanted to get what they could out of him in the 4x400.

What was most interesting that they apparently didn’t have the option of just holding him out–the announcers said he had to give his best effort.

IMO, the false start was so close to the real start that it was unintentional. Dwight Stones thought they’d give him another try because of so much noise from the high jumpers right at the start.

Sucks either way.

I couldn’t tell. Hopefully he is not too banged up if he is. May have been worried about getting a good start becausr he knew he wouldnt be full speed.

Learned something interesting from the announcers: The stadium in Oregon will be renovated, so the NCAA championships will be held in Austin for the next two years.

I’m going to make it a point to make those.

At this point you can say that 3 of the 8 fastest 100 meters sprinters in college track currently reside at The University of Houston

Damn, stupid sleep schedule had me miss half of the events tonight. On the 4x400, that won’t be the crew that runs Friday. Montgomery will definitely be on the squad that day. Crazy finish though.

Mechler began the day with a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash, where he won his heat in 10.83 to score 899 points. From there, Mechler would go on to jump 24-5.0 (7.44m) in the long jump to finish sixth and pick up 920 points.

Mechler would then move to the shot put, where he picked up 613 points with a top mark of 39-8.75 (12.11m), but withdrew from competition following a no-height in the high jump.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR ON THURSDAY

Sophomore Birexus Hawkins makes her first trip to the NCAA Championships in the 400-meter hurdles at 8 p.m. CST, Thursday. Hawkins circled one-lap around the track, while going over the hurdles, in 58.25 to post the sixth-best time at the Regional.

Bethel, The American Champion in the event, ran the eight-fastest qualifying time in the west at 23.01 to book a spot in the season’s final meet.
