The three-day meet kicks off Thursday at 12 p.m. CT, with the men’s collegiate hammer throw, while running events start at 7:50 p.m. CT, with the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. Friday’s action will begin at 1 p.m. CT, with both the men’s collegiate 110-meter hurdles prelims and collegiate long jump.

The final day of competition sees a later start, with field events beginning at 3 p.m. CT, with the elite invitational high jump, while the women’s elite 4x100-meter relay opens the final running slate at 3:15 p.m. CT.

ABOUT THE J. FRED DUCKETT TWILIGHT INVITATIONAL
Rice’s second home meet of the season will be a one-day event, held on Saturday, April 20. Action starts in the field at 9:30 a.m. CT, with the men’s discus, while the afternoon running session kicks off with the women’s 100-meter at 3:45 p.m. CT. The evening running session starts with the women’s 4x100-meter relay at 6 p.m.

Priscilla Adejokun and Mikaila Martin threw their way onto the medal stand after Adejokun finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 190-9.00 (58.15m). Following right behind was Martin as she threw a 190-9.00 (58.14m).

In the men’s hammer throw, Felipe Valencia closed out the day with a sixth-place finish in the second flight of the event. Valencia’s best throw came on his second attempt when he posted a mark of 158-01 (48.18m).

The Cougars got going early with Quivell Jordan advancing to the final in the 110-meter hurdles after taking second place in his heat at 14.14. Jordan closed out the day with a seventh-place finish in the finals of the event with a time of 14.48.

In the collegiate 1500-meter run Meredith Sorenson cruised to a third-place finish after a setting a new personal-record in the event with a time of 4:35.51. On the men’s side, Blake Contreras recorded a third-place finish in the 1500-meter run, finishing at 3:57.73.

In the women’s 100-meter dash, Ashley Seymour advanced to the final after finishing second in her heat at 11.74. Seymour concluded the day with a fourth-place finish in the final at 11.61. On the men’s side, Nicholas Alexander moved on to the 100-meter dash finals after taking first in his heat at 10.50. in the final, Alexander finished in fourth-place at 10.49.

Seymour continued to have a successful day on the track after taking first-place in her heat and fourth-place overall in the 200-Meter dash. The freshman closed out the event with a time of 24.02.

Cameron Laverty took top honors in the 800-meter run, winning the event with a time of 1:51.22.

In the field, the Cougars compiled three top-three finishes. In the collegiate discus, Hailey Pollard earned a fourth-place, posting a mark of 157-10 (48.10) on her second attempt. Ryan Pickering finished right behind Pollard in fifth-place, her best throw coming on her first attempt at 155-00 (47.28).

Mikaila Martin turned in a fifth-place finish in the shotput, recording her best throw on her fourth attempt at 41-10.75 (12.77).

In the men’s discus Kenneth Sessums finished in fifth-place with a throw of 161-02 (49.13) on his final attempt.

Cougars will resume action tomorrow at the Mt. Sac Relays and kickoff action at the J. Fred Duckett Invitational on the campus of Rice University.

AT MT. SAC RELAYS

On the track the men’s 4x100-meter relay team finished second in the invitational event with a time of 39.17. Travis Collins, Mario Burke, Terence Ware, and John Lewis III combined for the fastest collegiate time in the event.

Burke continued to have a good day on the track, finishing fourth in the men’s 100-meter dash, posting the best collegiate finish of the day at 10.33.

Naomi Taylor shined on the women’s side, taking home fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-record of 13.06.

Obi Igbokwe finished the 400-meter dash in fourth-place, with the fastest collegiate time of the day at 45.91.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Amere Lattin took top honors in his section, and second-overall in the event. The senior concluded the race with a time of 49.98.

The men’s 4x400-meter relay squad closed out the meet for the Cougars on a high note, finishing in second place with a time of 3:05.05. The squad combined for the fifth-fastest time in Cougar history.

In the field, Felipe Valencia took home second in the shotput invitational with a throw of 60-6.75 (18.46m).

Jordan Booker sprinted to at first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.22. Booker also took home third-place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.63.

Edward Sumler IV also competed in the 200-meter dash as he finished in second with a time of 21.32.
_ _
Finishing in second-place in long jump was Phedenia George-Mosbey, who set a new lifetime best at 19-7.50 (5.98m).

Devion Wilson came in second-place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.30.
_ _
Coming in second-place in the 100-meter hurdles was Whitney Ochiam who closed out the event with a time of 14.56.

Anna Larsson closed out the heptathlon with a podium finish, racking up a lifetime best 4,718 points.
