ABOUT THE RAGIN’ CAJUNS
Louisiana is 10-5 this spring season and are coming into Houston with a doubleheader sweep against Prairie View A&M. Seniors Elena Sava, Abby Johnson, and Kelly Drew headline their roster. The Ragin’ Cajuns are 3-2 in road matches with losses to Texas A&M and McNeese State.

ABOUT THE VAQUEROS
UTRGV is 6-6 on the spring season thus far. The Vaqueros are coming off a loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, 5-2. They are led by junior Dominique Ibarra, who is 8-2 in singles play this season. In doubles play, the tandem of senior Dominique Esparza and junior Doris Aleksovska boast a 5-0 record.

THE MATCH AGAINST LOUISIANA
Lauren Alter and Alison Mills started doubles off with a 6-3 win over Dana Radovanovic and Floriane Picaut. They improved to 9-2 when playing with each other this spring season.

Tsveta Dimitrova and Sveva Mazzari followed with a 6-2 victory over Abby Johnson and Elena Sava. This win clinched the doubles point for the Cougars.

Ana Glumac and Constandena Nicolaou’s match against Kelly Drew and Marina Garcia went unfinished due to Houston clinching the doubles point. Louisiana led 5-2 at the time of stoppage.

Singles play started with a bang for the Cougars as Mazzari led the way with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win over Floraine Picaut. Mazzari remains undefeated in singles play on the spring season.

Alter finished next with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Elena Sava. She improved to 12-1 in singles this season. This victory put the Cougars up 3-0 in the overall match.

Mills clinched the match for the Cougars in a 6-4, 6-1 win over Dana Radovanovic. After a close first set, she took control to cruise to the win. This win put the Cougars at 13-1 on the season.

There were three singles matches remaining when the match concluded. Dimitrova was up on Kelly Drew 6-4, 4-4, Nicolaou led against Abby Johnson 6-1, 5-5, and Glumac was leading against Marina Garcia 6-4, 2-3.

THE MATCH AGAINST UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY
Doubles were dominant yet again for the Cougars, with Alter and Mills cruising to a 6-0 win against Dominique Esparza and Doris Aleksovska. They won both of their matches in the doubleheader. Dimitrova and Glumac played with each other for the first time this spring season, and clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Dominique Ibarra and Marine Darzyan. The Cougars only dropped one game between the two doubles matches.

Mazzari and Nicolaou’s doubles match went unfinished with them leading 5-2 over Anastasia Belyaeva and Lasya Patnaik.

Dimitrova started off singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Dominique Esparza. She improves to 12-2 on the spring season.

Glumac put on a dominant performance to increase the Cougars lead to 3-0 in the overall match. She took down Lasya Patnaik 6-1, 6-2.

Mazzari clinched the sweep for Houston with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Marine Darzyan. She remains undefeated in singles.

Alter was down 5-7, 1-1 to Dominique Ibarra when the match was clinched. On another court, Mills match was at 4-6, 4-2 against Anastasia Belyaeva. Lastly, Nicolaou was up 6-4, 3-1 over Doris Aleksovska.

The Cougars didn’t drop a set in any of the clinch matches during the doubleheader and improve to a 14-1 overall record.
