The "Ed Oliver All Day Every Day" thread

He is also ESPN 1st team All American

Yup. Just needs to move up to first-team in the Sporting News and AP teams to make it unanimous.

Big Ed 2nd pick (the order of teams are random )

Oliver to the Saints would be fun. They’ve got a very young, talented defense that Ed would fit in very well with. Plus, he’d be close by.

6. Unless a defensive player finally takes home the Stiff-Armed Trophy

Michigan star Charles Woodson was the first primarily defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy in 1997, and he claimed it as much for his versatility and big moments on offense and special teams as his stellar play on defense.

Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver, a consensus All-American and Outland Trophy winner this past season, is arguably the best player in college football. He had 16½ tackles for loss, 5½ sacks, two forced fumbles and one blocked kick while playing nose tackle in a three-man front this past season. Oliver is respected enough by voters to make a legitimate run at the Heisman Trophy in 2018.

Not only is he an amazing athlete but an amazing person. You can tell that he is 100% genuine. Hopefully he can bring home the Heisman home.

Oh and recall that the Heisman is not only supposed to be about being an athlete but also about “integrity”. I guess they forgot about that criteria for this past “winner”.

We need to enjoy the 2018 campaign, it will be our last time to witness the massiveness that is Ed in UH red.

Go Coogs!

Any Chance Ed graduates in 3?

This is undoubtedly his final year as a student athlete. Knowing the kind of person he is, I wouldn’t be suprised if he doesn’t skip the bowl game. However, he won’t stay all 4 years. His draft stock is skyscraper high and will only get higher

Totally agree. And I’m glad that our offense will be dramatically improved. I felt like his talent was completely wasted last year with our dumpster fire of an offense. Next year could be very special for him, the whole team, and for us.

I absolutely agree with everyone in that Big Ed should go pro after 2018, but… just envisioning what 2019 season may look like for UH.

Opener is at Oklahoma in addition to a home game vs Wash State who was ranked for most of this past year.

In this scenario UH runs through this upcoming season - either 12-1 or even undefeated. Won’t be good enough to get into CFP but it lays the path for 2019 with those two opponents.

There’s where having Ed could determine a title opportunity. I believe this is something he would consider bypassing the draft for.

He’s made it pretty clear he’s leaving after this next season. Even if the Coogs do well, he’s still not getting paid to play. He’s not going to come back for one more year and risk injury when he’s going to be a Top 5 pick in the NFL draft.

As nice as it would be to have him one more year, he needs to be smart about his future and get what he can when he can get it.
