Cincy guys make their All-America picks:
Defensive Tackle: Ed Oliver, Houston. Houston native Ed Oliver was a freshman phenom in 2016, a genuine one-man wrecking crew that proved unblockable against both AAC and Power 5 competition. There is no reason to suspect anything but improvement from this emerging college football superstar.
Big Ed makes 1st team.

What some of our analysts are saying about Oliver
“Oliver was darn near unblockable as a freshman at Houston. He’s very similar to Aaron Donald. That says it all.” – Daniel Jeremiah

“Highly touted coming out of high school, and more than lived up to the billing as a freshman. He’s dominant at the point of attack, but it’s his ability to destroy offenses from inside (tackles for loss/sacks) that makes him elite.” – Charles Davis

“Oliver was impossible for interior offensive linemen to handle as a true freshman. He needs to continue to get bigger, but his agility and initial quickness are scary for a big man.” – Lance Zierlein
* * *
“Oliver’s combination of strength and athleticism makes him the most fun college football defender to watch since Ndamukong Suh.” – Chad Reuter

“There aren’t many players in the AAC who could start for pretty much any team in the country, but Oliver qualifies.” – Chase Goodbread
I think this is the year we really see what Big Ed is made of. After last year, you know teams are going to seriously game plan for him and take their chances with the other guys on that line being able to beat them. CMD will certainly move him around to try to disrupt game plans, but teams will adjust and still be able to throw double and triple teams at Big Ed. He’s going to get plenty of opportunities this year to show just how special he is, as well as give the other DL plenty of chances to shine in one on one matchups. Honestly, I don’t know how you adequately game plan to block a guy as strong and dominant as Big Ed. I’m in awe every time I see him play. If teams make the mistake of over-planning for Ed, our other guys are going to live in the backfield. Should be fun to watch!
Big Ed at #2 and he already ate up #1.
