The Results are In: UH School of Theatre & Dance Shines in 2017

and the Houston Chronicle took notice. In their year-end lists of Best Theatre Productions and Best Theatre Actors, the Houston Chronicle recognized UH productions, students and alumni for their work.

Best Theatre Productions

“Topdog/Underdog,” a hard-hitting two-character drama that explores masculinity, brotherhood and rivalry, made the list of this year’s best production. Donald Barthelme’s long-awaited “Snow White,” produced as part of the Mitchell Center’s CounterCurrent17 festival and featuring UH student Coralee Young in the lead role, received an honorable mention.

UH also received a nod for the Alley Theatre’s “Describe the Night,” which was hosted at the SoTD in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

Best Theatre Actors

The two stars of “Topdog/Underdog,” Yao Dogbe and Derrick Moore, were both recognized for standout performances, as well as UH alumni Gabe Regojo, Kyle Sturdivant, Courtney Lomelo and Kim Tobin-Lehl.
