Great response. You could tell they were a little down from Saturday.

Man these refs.

75-70 COOGS win!!!

Great job tonight. Need to beat Memphis this weekend.

CKS:

  • Defensive mindset was the difference in the 2nd half
  • UCONN came in with a little swagger after winning 4 in a row
  • Chicken’s tip in at the end of the first half was huge to cut it to 10
  • Bothered by not competing in the first half
  • Outrebounding UCONN is a big deal
  • Meyer had his best game
  • 3 guards were 4-22, but we won because of defense and rebounding
  • 19th win, all alone in 3rd and move on to Memphis
  • Elvin mentions how he said at half that you come out at half, play hard, and take back the game which CKS agrees with. (Elvin did say that)
  • Cougars lead the league in fewest turnovers, not an accident, only 5 turnovers tonight against a good defensive team
  • Most nights put ourselves in position to win because don’t beat self with turnovers

Meyer:

  • Credit to all seniors and all players for not giving up and going all out tonight
  • Branham: Got career high in rebounds against some giants; Meyer laughs
  • Mentions that they needed to play fast tonight, did that in 2nd which allowed for more offensive rebounds
  • Elvin mentions the three and they all laugh, as Meyer says that he finally made one. Rule on shooting threes is that he better make them.

Good win tonight.

I know some on here doubt it
but this program is progressing.

Good chance we can clinch the 3rd seed in the AAC tourney if we can knock off Memphis Sunday.

Memphis plays Cincy tomorrow, UCF plays Cincy Sunday and UCONN plays SMU Saturday. If Cincy and SMU hold serve and COOGS win, we clinch 3rd.

That second half was fantastic. Defense, rebounding and hustle like that will win most games.

The team played at a new level last night. If they can keep that focus then they will go a long way in the AAC tourney, and will position themselves as a strong bubble team if they don’t take it all. And if they keep playing like that they can take it all.

To those who chose not to show up, you missed a good one. Shame on you! If I can make a 50+ mile round trip you have no excuses.

Meyer was simply great last night - where has he been all year? Nine points, eleven rebounds - and he even hit a three-point shot! Way to go!

With his team down 10 points at halftime, University of Houston coach Kelvin Sampson didn’t have to say a word.

Instead, he wrote one word on the white board in the locker room.

“MATURITY.”

“No raised voice, nobody panicking,” Sampson said.

UCONN loses to SMU today.

Cincy plays at UCF tomorrow right before the Coogs play at Memphis. If Cincy and UH win, UH clinches the 3rd seed.
