72-71 Coogs. First time theyâve won in Memphis in 15 tries.
Coogs clinch at least the 4 seed and the bye in the AAC tourney. One more win or one UCF loss clinches the 3 seed.

Woo-hoo! Clutch win.
Glad we won but I must say we give up too many weak fouls with and 1!! If there is a foul stop from putting the ball up and make earn free throws. Also Chicken is just lost and I am not sure he should be playingâŠno defense and no rebounding from him at all.

Another point is the Cougars have to do a better job of making their free throwsâŠmake a few more and it even doesnât come down to the end of the wire.

CKS postgame:
- Thought we did a relative good job on the boards
- Memphis scores more points on the break than any team in the league
- Crawford had some clutch threes, especially Crawford
- Liked our toughness, didnât play great
- G-Rob was 1-7 and missed 2 clutch free throws, Gray turned the ball over late
- Guys are learning how to win
- 20-8, won some games that we wouldnât have won last year or earlier this year
- Have to have great player leadership; we did with Dotson tonight, not just the stats
- Knew that theyâd go for the rim on the last play so we put Chicken on the ball and Nkali fronting Lawson at the rim; feels Memphis went to 3rd option which was the three
- Proud of my guys, really proud of my guys
Dotson postgame:
- Hoping to make the two free throws at the end, but made sure to make the second and the team was able to overcome
- Shook off coach a couple of times when CKS wanted to take him out; Memphis runs up and down the court, but just toughed it out even though was tired
- Whole program, culture, and just a belief in CKS and we can go a long way. Canât wait to see 20 more wins next season after I leave
That last statement is what I want to hear. It means the players have bought into CKSâs vision and culture. We just need to pull in a few top recruits that share that same vision.
