Traveling to OU!

Hey Coogs! My girlfriend and I are planning on traveling to the season opener vs OU at the end of August. Looking for any tips/advice on this, as this will be our first time traveling to an away game and we are incredibly excited!

Main questions:

  • Visitor section at OU’s Stadium? Where should we buy tickets so that we will be sitting near other Coogs? (Trying to keep our spending <$250 on 2 game tickets)
  • Places to see/things to do in Norman, OK?
  • Hotel recommendations? Or should we just try and find an AirBnB near OU’s campus?

Thanks and Go Coogs!!!

Go through the ticket office and it will ensure you will be among Coogs, our tickets were $80 each. We asked for high up.

We bought four in section 33. Going to drive up Saturday maybe stay in Bricktown Saturday then got a room in Norman after the game. Have some recommendations for OKC not as much for Norman…should be a fun weekend for some football!

I was there the last time we played in Norman. Sadly I have a hard time traveling and walking long distances. I went up with a group of alums. OU’s stadium is impressive and their fans are top flight. They were very hospitable to us. Wish I could go.

The Garage in downtown Norman is a good, but not life altering burger.

Sorry, other than the game… nothing to do in Norman.

I have not been to Norman since Briles coached a game, but found Norman to have the look and feel of College Station. It had Chile’s and other chain restaurants.

Parking will likely be an issue. No different than watching a game in Tuscaloosa or Baton Rouge. I parked in someones yard for $10-20 and remember walking about half a mile to the stadium.

I remember the stadium kind of being a box for some reason and did not have a problem seeing the game (I did not have the greatest seats). The fans were very nice and had the feel of an Astros game with lots of kids and older folks in the stands.

The thing that will blow you away is all the awards they have listed at the top of the stadium. Lots of conference championships, all-Americans, etc. OU has been incredibly productive over the years.

Thanks for the tips everyone!

Y’all have a great time at the game. Bring it, be loud and support our Coogs! Odds are against us, but that’s nothing new.

“Oh we can beat them, forever and ever …
then we can be heroes, just for one day!”

Nice job channeling The Replacements and David Bowie…Geez, a sneaky win would be sweet…

Purchased and confirmed our tickets this morning from the UH ticket office. We’ll be in the upper deck with our fellow Coogs repping us loud and proud! Thanks again for everyone’s help and suggestions on this. September 1st can’t get here fast enough!

Best Place to Park for an OU Game

Public parking is limited on the main campus on game days. Fans are encouraged to arrive early. For pay parking lot locations, please refer to the football parking map. There is a $30 charge for parking. Spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free parking is available at the Lloyd Noble Center, located approximately one mile south of the stadium. There is a shuttle that unloads one block south of the stadium on First Street. The shuttle provides return trips for one hour after the conclusion of the game. Patrons may ride the Lloyd Noble Shuttle for a $5 round trip fee.

The City of Norman will be enforcing parking restrictions on all streets on game days. The primary area of enforcement will be “No Parking” areas that are not exempted on game days. Please take the time to read the signs before parking on a city street.

Our plan is to stay in Durant at Choctaw Casino Resort Saturday comp’ed (now Sunday night). The two hour drive should put us back at Durant before 1:00 am, perfect time to hit the VP machines. We’ll be either too hyped after a win or too upset to go to bed. Probably stay Monday LaborDay as well.
