Finebaum is nothing but entertaining. He has said on two different occasions that UCF claiming a national title “delegitimizes” the hard work UGA and Bama have put in. To say the G5 delegitimizes the P5 in any way is the most hypocritical sports take I have ever heard. National champs I’m buying their t-shirt they just put out. Charge on!

I will say that I think they play the name game, even with us. UCF has now won two major bowls in 5 years, but don’t have history prior to 1996. Neither does Boise, or USF (1998). We do. The chairman of the cartel has already gone on record that Houston had the pieces to be considered last year. That will be very difficult to walk back in the next two years, especially having two P5 opponents each year, and not necessarily weak sisters like Maryland. Our name means more and our schedule will mean more, so if what we think is about to happen to our offense happens, then the 2019 season could seriously have us lined up for the playoff. But we’re one of a cupful of non-cartel teams that could say that.
