USC tied with W.Michigan going to the 4th and other Saturday night action

Mountain West got bit by the FCS bug:

Howard 21
UNLV 19

Edit, sorry, that’s at the half

Northern Arizona-Arizona starting.

N.Arizona went down the field and botched a FG. Arizona then went 3 and out.

And then NAU goes 3 and out and UA returns the punt for a TD. 7-0 Wildcats.

Louisville hangs on, 1st win since they came to Houston last year.

NAU ties it up on a 3 play 75 yard drive. 58 yard run for the score.

Arizona D is not impressive right now.

AZ 21
NAU 14
2nd QT

Arizona up 21-14. 2 turnovers by NAU the difference right now. NAU moving at will otherwise.

Howard up 43-40 late in the 4th against UNLV.

Nebraska hung onto beat Arkansas State 43-36. ASU had 2 good chances to tie at the end and couldn’t conver.

FSU looked inept against Alabama and lost their QB. Francois was on crutches by the end of the game. 24-7.

BYU did nothing against LSU. 97 total yards. 27-0.

UNLV needs to shutter their program. No student support. No local support. The ten years I lived in Vegas (06-15), one winning season (7-6 in 2013).

So they are where we were in 2002? From 93 through 02 we were 32-79-1. Our basketball program was in just as bad a shape. We had not won a bowl game in over 20 years. We had 16k attendance for our 34-13 home opener loss in 2002 against Tulane. We should have shutter our program the next day right? That is why I shake my head when I see Cougar fans turning their noses up at programs that struggle.

Big difference. We had a history of excelling in basketball and football. UNLV has not had the same comparative history of success in football.

I’ve seen both programs up close and can attest that UH has shown interest in supporting all sports that were having varying degrees of success or lack thereof. UNLV, on the other hand, seems to only care about basketball.

Please don’t judge. I’m not turning my nose up at any program…just pointing out my observations.
