Vincent Marshall to coach at Houston (Update: Moved to Missouri Southern to coach RBs)

Former UH Great, Vincent Marshall, looks like he’ll be back with UH after a year at Syracuse. Prior to that, he had a nice long career in the CFL, mostly with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. No announcement yet, but he had Syracuse logos all over his twitter profile not too long ago.

Marshall was a 3-time All Conference selection between 2004-2006 (2005-1st, 2004-2006-2nd) and ranks 2nd all-time for receiving yards, 3rd in receptions, and 4th in TD receptions in UH history. He led the team in all-purpose yards in 2004 and 2005 and led the team in receptions all 4 years he was at UH. He always seemed to come up big in big games as he had a 201 yard game against South Carolina in the '06 Liberty Bowl, he had the 81 yard reception to tie the Hawaii Bowl up with 22 seconds left in '03, and had a 100 yard receiving game in the '06 CUSA Championship.

Video of the Hawaii catch to send it to overtime:

Full game if you want to watch it. Fun game.

I remember those eyes. Intense, focused. A good get if true I think.

Marshall, a University of Houston product, was recently added as the Lions’ 10th staff member. He’ll oversee the running backs.

“He’s the guy we got to hire in virtue of me taking the offensive line,” Johnson said. “That gave us an opportunity to split those two positions and hire a running backs coach and let coach (Paul) An coach the tight ends and h-backs.”

Good experience, just keep working the way up the ladder.

Vincent was let go this weekend, along with a number of other position coaches.

Curious to know who the other position coaches are. Hope Marshall bounces back from this
