Volleyball Seeks Revenge against Tulane (L 3-0) and Memphis (L 3-1) on Home Floor

Friday’s contest against Tulane will be Houston’s Red Out match, where fans are asked to show off their Cougar pride and wear red to the match. Those in attendance will receive red pompoms, while supplies last. The Cougars will wrap up its weekend of play on Sunday against Memphis with Military Appreciation Day, recognizing those who have proudly served our country.

Coogs swept tonight against Tulane.

Sophomore setter Abby Irvine recorded her 11thdouble-double of the season, but her performance was not enough to boost the Cougars, as the University of Houston Volleyball team fell 3-0 (20-25, 24-26, 24-26) to Tulane on Friday night.

The Cougars (14-12, 1-11 AAC) held a 24-22 lead in the third frame, but was unable to hold the advantage against the Green Wave (20-7, 8-4 AAC), who ended the match scoring the final four points.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

* Houston has won its past two Sunday home matches.
* Despite trailing by at least three points in every set, Houston won the match 3-1.
* Three Cougars tallied 10 or more digs for the 10th time this season.
* The Cougars matched their season-high with 11 service aces against the Tigers.
* With her 13 assists and 11 digs, senior setter Katie Krebs recorded her fifth double-double of the season.
* Sophomore outside hitter Silvia Pertens posted a match-high 14 kills. It’s the eighth time this year she has led the Cougars in kills.
* Junior outside hitter Megan Duncan recorded a career-high four aces in the match.
* Freshman Kendall Haywood led all players with her .476 hitting percentage.
