The former Cougar pitcher is now coaching at Liberty High School in Devers
Following graduation in 1995, his dream came true in playing for a big-time college program when he was recruited to play for the University of Houston Cougars.
“I was kind of a mixed bag there playing wherever they needed me,” the athletic coach said. “I just filled in at different spots.”
But his senior year was his greatest for the Coogs helping lead University of Houston to the Conference-USA Championship and he did it where he was most comfortable - at the No. 1 spot on the diamond. He and a colleague tied for the most wins on the mound, leading the Coogs into the college baseball playoffs.
