We waited a long time. God Bless the Coogs
We seem to be annum challenged on so many levels.
I heard that back then they actually played the game in an open field and instead of bleachers fans sat on horses and watched the games.
The net was a peach basket and the game timer was a sundial.
We wandered the desert for a long time
Back then they shot free throws underhanded
I have to games every year since 1967-68 except for the one year I was in Spokane Washington and couldn’t make a game.
I read a little bit recently about why basketballers were called “cagers”. They used to play separated from the fans by a cage. It was nominally to keep the ball and players from going into the stands… But apparently another reason was that it kept the fans from mauling players!!!
That was my first season as well. But I missed two seasons living on the east coast.
Concessions have improved since 1894, but I heard shots of moonshine only cost a nickel…
Nice post ! Go Coogs !
