July 6th is the date to watch. If he doesn’t sign by then, he’ll probably be attending UH in the fall.
Andrew did make his debut for AZL Indians 1; he went a scoreless inning giving up 1 walk and striking out 2.
Connor Hollis certainly earned position with the Princeton Rays in Thursday’s 11-9 comeback victory over the Burlington Royals. Hollis, a free agent infielder from the University of Houston, who had played in just five of 16 games for the Rays, was not only 4-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs, but also pitched the final three innings, allowing two hits and one unearned run, striking out one and walking one to pick up the win. Princeton trailed 7-0 before rallying to earn the 10-inning win. That followed an opening game 11-10 victory in the competition of a suspended game that went 11 innings, which left the P-Rays in short supply on available hurlers.
Says some nice things about UH and the coaches as well.
Through games of July 18, Scheiner is hitting .288/.357/.453 overall and has really turned it on of late with a .349/.455/.506 line since the break. His 23 doubles are tied for third on the circuit, and he leads Lakewood with 96 hits, 48 runs and 40 RBIs while tying for second with 10 homers. Scheiner also is making consistent contact, evidenced by his 59 strikeouts versus 33 walks.
He was so, so good it’s almost hard to fathom him having to redshirt his first year at JuCO.
